First Grade Handbook

     

Homework

• Due Thursday, Sept 3rd

  Your child's green Math Home Connections book is in their Friday Folder. Please complete pgs. 1 and 2 and put the book back in your child's Friday Folder.

  **Please do not work ahead in the math book.

• Read by yourself or with someone for 10 minutes.
• All About Me Box is due Sept 3rd.
• Photo permission slip (if you received one). Many parents filled this out at Meet and Greet.

September 7th- Labor Day, No School

September 10th-Homestead Dash

September 18th-No School, Teacher Inservice

***Every Wednesday, school is dismissed at 1:45pm

What is Happening in FIRST GRADE?

Assessments

We are currently administering our beginning-of-the-year assessments. Student results will be reviewed and sent home within the next couple of weeks.

Cafeteria Snacks

This year, the first graders can purchase snacks from the cafeteria during their

lunchtime.  To do this, students must have money in their lunch account. 

H.A.W.K.S. and Second Step

• We are reviewing/going over what H.A.W.K.S. stands for and what it means to be a Homestead Hawk!

• We are using the 2nd step program to learn appropriate behaviors in class. This month we are working on listening and focus skills.

All About Me Box

• Please read the homework sheet (came home last week) to understand how to create the box.

• Students will bring their box in to share with the class on or before Thursday, 9/3.

Library

We were able to start going to the library this past week and check out books! 

Our library times are:

Moore: Monday at 1:35pm

Dattilo: Wednesday at 12:45pm

Palumbo: Thursday at 1:35pm

Your child's books will be checked out during this time and they need to be brought back by the morning of your child's library day to be checked back in. They will not be able to check out books until their books are checked back in. 

Reminders

• 2 snacks everyday

• Water bottle labeled with name, that doesn't leak.

• Homework will come home in the Friday Folder on Fridays and will be due back the following Thursday.
• Please clean out all papers from the left side of the Friday Folder before returning it on Thursday with your child's homework.

Attendance and Illness

• Please review the CCSD guidelines for sick children on our website.
• If your child will be absent please fill out this form before 8am or call the attendance line at 720-554-3795.
