Week of Aug. 17th

We are excited to welcome you to the first edition of our online newsletter! Every week, you will receive a link with important classroom news, upcoming events, and information about what your child is learning in first grade. Please take a few minutes to review it each week so you don't miss any important updates. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to help your child learn and grow.

Homework

• In order to get to know each other better, we are asking students to learn the
  origin and meaning of their name by completing the Your Special Name homework inspired by the book Chrysanthemum. Please return the completed sheet to school by August 22nd. We will be sharing them in class.
• Students have 2 weeks to work on the All About Me box homework. It is due September 4th. 
• Please return the photo permission slip if you received one. Many parents filled this out at Meet and Greet,

Cafeteria Snacks

This year, the first graders can purchase snacks from the cafeteria

during their lunchtime.  To do this, students must have money in

their lunch account. 

Reminders

• 2 snacks everyday

  
  

• Water bottle labeled with name, that doesn't leak.

• Please label all personal items with your child’s name.

• Please send in headphones for your student if you haven’t already.

            (We will be using them beginning next week.)

A Peek at What’s Coming Up in First Grade

• We are assessing beginning-of-the-year skills in reading, writing, and math.
• Math homework will come home starting August 22nd.
• Homework will come home in the Friday Folder on Fridays and will be due back the following Thursday.
• Please clean out all papers from the left side of the Friday Folder before returning it on Thursday with your child's homework.
